Song of the Week: Shout Out Louds – Where You Come In

Optica, the fourth LP from Swedish quintet Shout Out Louds, really does deserve its own review: it’s turned out one of the best songs of the year, and the rest of the album is no slouch, either. “Where You Come In” is the type of glimmering, wistful pop the band does so well, a teasingly upbeat, gradually layered intro giving way to a luscious, gently melancholic chorus where even the guitar chords ripple with longing. “Sometimes you give, sometimes you take a little too much, and sometimes not enough,” Adam Olenius sings. And sometimes, as this song proves, you get the balance absolutely right.
